Roger Rivera is board certified as a Family nurse practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric–mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). His areas of expertise include psychiatry, family medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, and trauma surgery. He holds a Nurse Educator Certification from the University of Florida and is enthused with treating as well as teaching the art and science of integrative psychiatric care, especially with the experience incurred in the various specialties.

Roger is leading a research project at the University of Florida on post-traumatic stress disorder at the Puerto Rico Medical Center Trauma Hospital. His goal is to help implement a PTSD protocol through the aid of precision medicine.

Morose in today’s day and age, we often see a destitute in our society in achieving a balance in life and emotional wellness. With the aid of progressive testing to include genetic, metabolic, nutritional, hormonal, and various other measures coupled with evidenced-based research in the advancements of Neurobiology, managing short and long-term treatment goals specific to individual client needs is paramount.

As part of integrated patient care teams, Roger has extensively worked to improve health outcomes and overall quality of care by counseling and educating patients about self-care behaviors that promote wellness and optimal functioning within the patient’s family and community.

Prior to engaging in an Academic journey that has expanded more than 15 years, Roger served in the United States Marine Corps in Infantry and Light Armored Reconnaissance units, responsible for the safety of squad personnel in multiple deployments overseas. Following his time as a marine, Roger had successive assignments in critical care, intensive care, and Trauma units and Emergency Departments at hospitals in Puerto Rico, Virginia, Washington DC, Wisconsin, and Florida.

Mente Suave Psychiatry and Medicine takes a comprehensive approach to treating the mind and body, optimizing the advances of evidenced-based research of neurosciences and neurobiology, with a plethora of testing to include genetic, metabolic, nutritional, hormonal, and various other measures creating a unique approach to tailor individual treatment of ones physical and mental wellbeing.
